In the midst of COVID-19 outbreak, many companies are increasingly applying Working From Home (WFH) policy for their employees. Although this may provide convenience for all the employees in some businesses, it is impossible for some sort of works to apply the same way. I myself has been working from home for a month or so now so let me share some of my insights about ways to work from home and how you can effectively accomplish your work during WFH.

1. Set Your Schedule Of Working Hours Before You Begin

When you work from home, the most important thing to do is to follow the rules. Be disciplined. You’re not going to finish your work if you think it’s okay to work only when you want to just because you are at home. So it is best to start with setting the schedule for work.

2. Specify A Private Working Space

When you work from home, there is no doubt that you may experience certain degree of inconvenience if you are living with your family. Not only they can hinder your work efficiency, but they can also interrupt you during your phone calls and online meetings. For these reasons, you should prepare to set up your private working space in a quite place of your home.

3. Dress Up For Work

Have you ever heard of the term “Dress for success”? Let’s say you think it is fine to work wearing pajamas as you’re only staying at your home. But this will not only hinder your willingness to work, but also make you unprepared when you’ve got to join an online video meeting. So, at least make sure you dress up for work.

4. Make A To-Do List Of What You Have To Accomplish

During WFH, you should also consider to write down a list of daily work assignments because completing them on your own is about time management. Not only you can recall yourself how much work you’d done daily but you also feel the accomplishment of the work done.

5. Keep In Touch With Your Colleagues

When you work from home, you may also feel alone and excluded from the team as you can’t talk to your colleagues just as you do at the work. In that case, what you need to do is to keep in touch with your boss and your colleagues so that you can inform them about your work as well as ask them for help anytime you need.

Working from home is not as easy as expected. When you do it, you should also try to enhance your productivity because the fact that you’re working can only be proven with your performance and therefore, you have to make others know that you’re working at home more than you do at work. Otherwise, your boss can raise a question about your performance.

So, why don’t you start using those tips to make the best of working from home?

You can do it!
